Chapter 16:

        “The moon looks beautiful tonight.”
His words made me turn towards the lapis lazuli-coloured sky which was partly obscured by the tall buildings of the city. Through the windshield I could see the brilliant glow of the white moon; it was a sixteen day old moon.
“It really is beautiful,” I agreed. “The last time we went to Yokohama, it was raining so I’m surprised it’s so clear today.”
He nodded, and gave a brief glance my way.
        “What is it?”
“Nothing. I was just thinking how beautiful you are.”
        “Well, aren’t you the smooth-talker.”
I couldn’t think of what else to say. I wanted to make a light-hearted joke, but nothing came to mind.

Lemon Incest Chapter 15 (pg 287-301)

December 30, 2012

Chapter 15:

Misao had begun to think as of late that all her fears were unfounded. At the very least, her efforts to think that way had begun to succeed.
There was no need for her to waste her time thinking of such frivolous things. It must just be that Mio and Shougo were trying to fill the hole that was left behind from having been separated after twenty four years, and that was why they were suddenly so close.
Mio’s striking change was proof of that. In a short amount of time, she had lost any excess weight and it was replaced by a rich sparkle to her eyes. You could say that kind change is an aspect typical of a woman in love, but it could also be something that could have come from the psychological shock of Shougo coming into her life. Now that she thought back to this past year as a whole, she could see that Mio was beginning to settle down, and it was clear that she was beginning to take into serious consideration her plans for the future.

Lemon Incest Chapter 14 (pg 268-287)

December 29, 2012

Chapter 14:

My memory of that night would at times whirl about inside of me like a dark fog, and yet, the details of that night were blurry, and despite my best efforts, I couldn’t remember the vital parts of what he had told me.
It was even more so after I had recovered from my drawn out illness.
I tried to think back to what he had said… the things he had told me without being asked. I could remember bits and pieces, but I couldn’t recall what order they came in, the way in which he said those words, or the pauses that came between them, no matter how hard I tried.
It wasn’t just that; the very fact that he had held my hand that night and talked to me felt a step removed from reality, as if it were nothing more than a dream caused by the fever.
That being said, I was too embarrassed to ask him to tell me once again what he had told me that night. I was embarrassed, but also afraid to ask.

Lemon Incest Chapter 13 (pg 255-268)

December 24, 2012

Chapter 13:

I didn’t want Shougo to see me in my sleepwear, let alone me in a weakened state lying down on the bed.
But despite my wishes, my fever had gotten higher. I measured my temperature after being pressured to do so by him, and when I saw that my fever was at 38.3, I had no choice but to let down my defences. I struggled just sitting up right on the sofa.
“I’m sorry, but I’m going to go and lie down.”
I told him this before heading to my bedroom and changing into my pyjamas. The dry feeling of the cloth on my skin felt unusually cold, and I felt goosebumps rising on my skin.
Even though the core of my body was boiling hot, my skin was sensitive to the coldness of the air and my body began to shiver. My head didn’t really hurt, but it felt heavy, and it felt as if my head was being held under a waterfall; it felt so heavy that I couldn’t be bothered to keep my head up.
I slipped under the covers, and as I lay there on my back with my arm pressed against my cheek, there was a knocking on my door. The door opened a crack, and I saw him peering in. His face was illuminated from the light in the hallway.
        “Mio-san, I…”

Lemon Incest Chapter 12 (pg 234-255)

December 23, 2012

Chapter 12:

The day that Shougo visited Misao’s law office was on a warm afternoon in mid-March.
It was an unannounced, sudden visit. She was worried that something had happened between him and Mio, but he wasn’t acting any different from usual, and the manner in which he announced his unexpected visit didn’t give anything to make her feel that something was amiss; but the way in which he came to visit was odd.
“Well, what a surprise, but I must say, what perfect timing. An hour later, and you wouldn’t have found me here; I was just about to step out.”
“If you’re busy, I can come back another day.”
“You know you’re welcome any time, but I wish you’d called before you’d come. Since I’m in the line of profession that I am, I’m always rushing about so there are days when I wouldn’t be able to see you even if you did trouble yourself to come all the way here.”

Lemon Incest Chapter 11 (pg 213-234)

December 7, 2012

Chapter 11:

Muda suddenly came knocking on my door on the evening of the Hina festival.
He wasn’t drunk, and he didn’t seem like he was in a particularly bad mood either. As the sun set in the horizon, he showed up at my door step saying, “I left; Watanabe-san to look after the store, so I don’t have to go back tonight,” before he took me in his arms.
It was unusual for him to just come without calling first. I suspected that he might have been hoping to catch something by showing up unannounced, but his expression gave nothing away.
He was impatient though as he sat down, wrapped me in his arms, and began to kiss me. Even though his actions had a natural flow to it, it was strange how rushed he was being.
“What’s wrong?” I forced a smile on my face as I stiffened my body and tried to turn my face away from his kisses.

Lemon Incest Chapter 10 (pg 192-213)

November 20, 2012

Chapter 10:

Now that I think back to it, I wondered what it was that had happened.
I knew that it wasn’t something that I could figure out the answer to no matter how hard I thought about it, but even then I couldn’t help but think back, and every time I would do so, I couldn’t help but ruminate again and again on the memory in my mind– it was almost as if I was trying to cling onto that memory.
The moment the new year began and the sound of the New Years’ Eve bells began ringing from the television, when I had realized it, I was in Shougo’s arms. I knew full well that Misao was watching. I remembered that we had started out jokingly embracing each other, and how we had been laughing. And the hug itself was nothing more than a light embrace.

Lemon Incest Chapter 5 (pg 88-109)

August 14, 2012

Chapter 5:

      The phone rang.
It wasn’t her cell phone ringing though– it was her home phone. Reflexively, Misao glanced at the watch on her wrist; it was a bad habit of hers. It wasn’t something that came about because of her profession, but just something that had become a routine of hers before she’d even realized it.
It was almost nine. The phone display flashed a number. She recognized it right away as Mio calling from her cell phone.
      “Misao-chan– I’m surprised! I thought you wouldn’t be home.”
“Where are you? Are you still at Muda’s café?”

Lemon Incest Chapter 4 (pg 68-88)

July 13, 2012

Chapter 4:

I live on the fifth floor of an apartment complex located in Shirokanedai. If I wanted to, there wasn’t even a need to use the elevator to go visit Misao’s apartment, which is located on the third floor.
Since my father’s sudden passing in a car accident, I had sold the house I grew up in and purchased an apartment in a newly built complex that was in the same neighbourhood. Similarly, at around the same time, Misao moved from Tsukudajima into an apartment in the same complex, as if she were following in my footsteps.
It was Misao who had recommended that I buy an apartment with the money my father had left me and renovate it to my tastes and enjoy living a carefree and comfortable life. It was of her opinion that it wasn’t wise for me to continue living in the big house by myself surrounded by old memories.

Lemon Incest Chapter 3 (pg 48-68)

June 26, 2012

Chapter 3:

Once upon a time in the Minato district of Tokyo, there used to be a store by the name of “Kanaya Glass Shop” in a neighbourhood called Ichinohashi. It was a small, family-owned shop. In addition to the father and son, there was, during this time, one or two young men serving as apprentices there; however, most of the work was still done by the father and son.
In the nearest vicinity, upscale residential condos with names like “Asanuno” and “Shirokana” spread, and it was a place where there were quite a few foreign embassies. Not only was the shop known for having highly skilled workers who met deadlines, but its workers were also known for having a wealth of knowledge when it came to glass, so this shop received patronage from the local wealthy residents, and there was a time when they would work in collaboration with large construction companies.
Shortly after Misao’s older sister Chikako married into the Shimada family, the workers that the Shimada family hired also happened to be from “Kanaya Glass Shop.”
